From the President
I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for their participation in the 2011 79th Annual MSRT Conference. What a great conference! I hope many of you were lucky enough to have the opportunity to sit in on a few lectures presented by our Key Note Speaker, Ginger Griffin. She is entertaining and informative. What a great combination! Thank you to Dawn McNeil for representing the ASRT at our conference, presenting lectures, and judging our student bowl. We appreciate your time.
As we look forward into the upcoming year we have some great things to look forward to. The Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility and Excellence (CARE) in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy bill is due to be introduced any day now in the House of Representatives by Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY). We will need to work together to bring support from each of our representatives.
If there was ever an environment which could bring this bill into fruition, I believe it is this environment of heightened medical safety awareness. When you consider the combination of the sensitivity of medical safety with the recent press about radiation over exposure, one can see a perfect combination to help the CARE bill succeed. Please contact your Representative and let them know how important this is to you and your patients. The ASRT makes this process very easy. Here is a link to their website: ASRT Advocacy.
Another exciting aspect of the upcoming year is the approach of the 80th Annual MSRT Conference. I hope you mark your calendar to join us in making this historic conference a wonderful experience for our profession. April 18-21, 2012.
I realize we recognized Dr. Michael Ward this year at conference, but I would like to address him here as well! Dr. Ward is now the President of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiologic Technologists. This is an amazing accomplishment and the MSRT Board is very proud of him and his accomplishments. Congratulations Dr. Ward!!
