Mission Statement

The Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologists is an affiliate of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Our purpose is to advance the field of radiologic technology. We do this by assisting in establishing and maintaining high standards of education and training, pursuing legislation that will require licensure of all who use ionizing radiation for diagnosis and treatment of humans, providing assistance for education seminars on the local level, and presentation of an annual educational conference. This results in an elevated quality of safe patient care, and increased diagnostic information provided for radiologist interpretation. We are advocates for the profession, our districts, and our members.

We Believe:

            • Radiologic technologists are professionals in the radiologic sciences.

            • Radiologic technologists are committed to excellence in the health care community.

            • Radiologic technologists are dedicated to the pursuit of radiation health and safety.

            • Radiologic technologists keep abreast of technological advances within their profession.

• Radiologic technologists are dedicated individuals who have specialized education and                                                                  knowledge in the field of radiologic technology.

            • Radiologic technologists demonstrate initiative and independent professional judgment.

Professionalism

As a member of the MSRT we demonstrate our professionalism to all of those around us. This is never more apparent than during our annual conference. When we are at conference we have an audience of fellow students, technologists, educators, administrators, guests and commercial sponsors. We demonstrate our professionalism to them through our actions, attire, and displays. Please remember the following when you attend conference:

  1. Our scientific displays should be educational. We deal with intimate human anatomy in our profession. If we present displays that demonstrate disrespect for various body parts, we are sending that message to our patients and our colleagues. Consider how our parents and grandparents would view our scientific presentations.
  2. We are self-proclaimed champions of dose reduction and radiation protection. We fight for legislation to help us provide better patient safety. We should never communicate that it is “okay” to over expose a patient or treat the patient in any way that is inappropriate or demeaning.
  3. The world of radiology is a small world. At conference we interact with people who could someday be our employers or co-workers. Students may be just days away from becoming Radiologic Technologists, ethically accountable for their actions and looking for a job. Technologists do not know where or with whom they might be working in the near future or many years from now. If you plan on making a lasting impression, what impression is it you want to make?

MSRT Privacy Policy
